Mr. Golf Etiquette's Golf Etiquette Game
Above you see the photograph for the Golf Etiquette Game for October, 2001, the last game
prior to the temporary break in the Golf Etiqeutte Game.
The winner for October was Jacob McMillan of Woodstock, GA. Demonstrating good golf etiquette
while playing golf at Woodstock would be quite challenging with all those people running around
naked and smoking pot. Oh, wait a minute, that was Woodstock, Georgia... that's probably quite
a bit different. Mr. Golf Etiquette seems ot recall a court case from a few years ago deciding
that it is actually illegal to BE naked in Georgia.
Anyway, that has nothing to do with Mr.
McMillan, whose fine answer exposes the naked truth about the golf etiquette infraction in the
October picture.
Jacob's answer was:"I think that the problem with that picture is that there is someone
standing behind the person that is hitting and that is not courteous to the person that is
hitting the ball."
A fine job by Mr. McMillan (if a bit minimalist). But he is correct; it is not good
etiqeutte to stand directly behind the golfer who is hitting. In this case, the golfer in white
is a lefty (and even lefties are entitled to good golf etiquette) and the person directly behind
her (and on her shot line) will certainly be in her line of vision on her backswing).
Be sure to watch the other golfers' shots from a place where you will not be distracting to
the shot.
Thanks to Jacob McMillan for his fine answer. And thanks to everyone else who played. See you
again when the game resumes.
Good luck in your golf game!!! And Mr. Golf Etiquette hopes you are all demonstrating the
finest golf etiquette out on the course and will have a great golf season!
